Removes maximum driving time for truckers transporting formula components.
This week, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), an agency within the Department of Transportation, made an emergency declaration for all motor carriers and drivers transporting baby formula-related goods. The maximum driving time has been lifted for truckers carrying baby formula, whey, casein, corn syrup, and hydrolyzed protein, as well as packaging for baby formula, so that they can reach their destinations as quickly as possible.
“This Emergency Declaration is effective immediately and shall remain in effect until the end of the emergency or until 11:59 P.M. June 30, 2022, whichever is earlier,” Deputy Administrator Robin Hutcheson stated. “FMCSA intends to continually review the status of this Emergency Declaration and may take action to extend, modify or terminate the Emergency Declaration if conditions warrant.”
